A vineyard on high ground with clayey soil on a rugged plain that we still call “rañas” and that is geologically one of the oldest in Europe. An organic vineyard where our vines live in conditions marked by an extreme climate, with vast temperature differences and the required hours of sun for full, balanced ripening. A vineyard that gives the wine a unique identity. A vineyard that reflects the exceptional nature of this environment that is as hostile as it is friendly. A vineyard that is the true expression of our Dehesa. A vineyard with a soul.

Passion, knowledge and value

Our intention is to keep broadening the circle of Mediterranean flavours with the idea that making La Dehesa Fine Wines is a consequence of our passion. Turning it into reality is fruit of the knowledge and a certain audacity of two great professionals of the wine sector who are by our side in this dream.

Juan Antonio Leza and Jean Marc Saubua, with a shared vision and deep respect for the environment, saw unexplored potential in these lands, to make wines that express the soul of this little part of the world. The first challenge was to create a vineyard in a place with no known winemaking tradition and interpret the virtues of this unique terroir.

Varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah were initially selected, and La Dehesa was the ideal place to develop their full potential. Later, Graciano was incorporated, in an innovative move to create wines that faithfully represent this exceptional landscape.

Today our wines are a reflection of the altitude, extreme climate and exceptional growing conditions of La Dehesa. Together we have been able to make every bottle a testament to the balanced ripeness of the grapes and the rich diversity of the vineyard, thus creating fine estate wines that capture the pure essence of our region.
